AQM Copper Inc. Expands High-Grade Enrichment Zone Intercepting 188m of 0.73% Cu and 0.13 g/t Au
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - July 9, 2010) - [ AQM Copper Inc. ] (TSX VENTURE:AQM)(BVLAC:AQM) ("AQM" or "the Company") announces continuing positive drill results from the [ Zafranal ] project located in the northwestern extension of the Southern Peru Copper Porphyry Belt near the city of Arequipa.
Today, the company reports [ drill results ] from 12 diamond drill holes. (View AQM's [ drill plan map ]).

Hole ZFDDH10-39 was drilled 80 metres south of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-25 (132m @ 0.42% Cu) and 100 metres east of previously reported drill hole ZFRC10-53 (114m @ 0.58% Cu). The results from this hole confirm the presence of high-grade enriched copper mineralization as well as significant hypogene mineralization in the eastern half of the Main Zone.
Drilling continues to expand the zone of known copper mineralization further to the west than previously recognized. Hole ZFDDH10-52 was drilled southwards 70 metres south of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-49 (36m @ 0.49% Cu) along section 793100. Hole ZFDDH10-55 was drilled northwards from the same pad as ZFDDH10-49. Hole ZFDDH10-59 was drilled southwards from 140 metres north of ZFDDH10-55. Along section 793000E, hole ZFDDH10-58 was drilled 100 metres southwest of drill hole ZFDDH10-49 and hole ZFDDH10-60 was drilled 100 metres southwest of drill hole ZFDDH10-59.
Hole ZFDDH10-62 was drilled 100 metres northwest of drill hole ZFDDH10-52 along section 792900E and represents the westernmost drill hole reported to date.
Hole ZFDDH10-54 was drilled westwards from the same pad as previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-31 (127m @ 0.56% Cu). Similarly, drill hole ZFDDH10-57 was drilled westwards from the same pad as previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-45 (54m @ 1.02% Cu). Both of these holes were aimed at testing the true thickness of a north-south post-mineral dyke cross-cutting the mineralized zone, as well as testing the continuity of mineralization up against the dyke.
Hole ZFDDH10-56 was drilled 80 metres north of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-46 (358.8m @ 0.70% Cu) and shows that the mineralization remains open to the north. Hole ZFDDH10-61 was drilled 80 metres south of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-51 (225m @ 0.53% Cu) along the same section (794700E), leaving the zone open towards the south.
Drilling through June has focused on a [ 2km long segment ] of the 3.5+km east-west trending intensely mineralized Main Zone, one of six porphyry copper-gold targets within the Zafranal project. The Company continues an aggressive drill program at [ Zafranal ] with the plan to drill 40,000 metres that will include grid drilling the Main Zone, testing of the east and west extensions of the Main Zone, deep drilling on the Main Zone, and testing several of the satellite targets during 2010.
AQM is the operator of a 50/50 JV with Teck Resources Limited through a sole purpose Peruvian company being formed for the Zafranal Project, as announced in its press release dated July 8, 2010.
The Company has established a rigorous QA/QC program at Zafranal, which includes the insertion of blanks, duplicates and certified standards into the sample stream. Core is photographed on site and subsequently sawed in half, with one half sent for analysis and the other half stored for future reference and assay verification. RC chips are split twice on site using a riffle splitter, with 25% of the sample being sent to the laboratory for assay and the rest stored for future verification purposes. All Zafranal samples are shipped to ALS Chemex's sample preparation facility in the city of Arequipa, where they are crushed and pulverized. Prepared samples are shipped to ALS Chemex's certified laboratory in Lima where they are analysed for gold, copper and multi-element ICP.
Dr. Tom Henricksen, consultant geologist of the Company and Chief Geologist for AQM Peru, the Company's Qualified Person for the purposes of NI 43-101, has approved the information contained in this news release.
