  • The spacecraft built and operated by Texas-based Firefly Aerospace launched in the early Monday hours from Florida aboard a SpaceX rocket.

Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lunar lander is on track for its inaugural mission to the Moon in 2024, following a successful review by NASA. This mission, part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative, will deliver scientific and technology payloads to the lunar surface. The Blue Ghost lander, designed to be versatile and capable of multiple missions, will not only support NASA's Artemis program but also aims to foster a sustainable presence on the Moon. The lander's development has been progressing with key milestones like the completion of its propulsion system testing and the integration of its avionics. Firefly is also planning subsequent missions, with Blue Ghost 2 set for 2026, indicating a long-term commitment to lunar exploration and potential commercial opportunities.
