The United States has removed India's Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), the Indian Rare Earths Limited (IRE), and the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) from its Entity List, a move aimed at fostering closer cooperation between the two nations. This decision, announced by the US Department of Commerce, reverses a 1998 sanction imposed after India conducted nuclear tests. The delisting is part of a broader initiative to enhance collaboration in civil nuclear technology, reflecting the strengthening of the US-India strategic partnership. The removal from the Entity List will facilitate easier trade and technology transfer, allowing these Indian institutions to engage more freely with American companies and researchers.
