The Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, is overseeing several key payloads for the upcoming Artemis II mission, which is the next step in NASA's lunar exploration campaign. This mission will carry astronauts around the Moon, testing the Orion spacecraft's life-support systems with a crew aboard for the first time. Among the payloads, there's a focus on scientific experiments and technology demonstrations, including the Callisto experiment aimed at studying radiation effects on materials, and the Lunar IceCube, which will search for water ice on the Moon. Additionally, the mission will deploy the Near-Earth Asteroid Scout, a small spacecraft designed to study asteroids. These efforts are part of NASA's broader goal to establish a sustainable human presence on the Moon, paving the way for future Mars missions.
