Omniture: More Leading Retailers Using Omniture Conversion Solutions to Boost Sales and Ecommerce Performance
OREM, UT--(Marketwire - September 22, 2009) - Shop.org Annual Summit -- [ Omniture, Inc ]. (
According to Forrester Research, "eCommerce conversion rates continue to hover at 3%, and retailers know that enormous business can be gained by improving that single metric." (Trends 2009: U.S. Online Retail, Forrester Research, April 29, 2009).
"Seasoned online marketers and merchandisers recognize that significant revenue opportunities exist through improving online conversion rates, by even just a fraction of a percent," said Chris Harrington, president, worldwide sales and client services for Omniture. "Omniture's conversion solutions directly address these opportunities by giving our customers more control and flexibility over their online marketing campaigns to present relevant content and offers that appeal to each online visitor."
Omniture Recommendations recommends relevant and top-selling products and content online to increase cross-sell and up-sell opportunities. Results from the recently-announced [ Omniture Online Conversion Benchmark Survey ] of over 1,000 online marketers showed that nearly half of respondents do not currently have a product or content recommendation application. Of the remaining half who do, 66 percent rely on a manual process, indicating tremendous opportunities for marketers and merchandisers to adopt an automated recommendations solution. Omniture recently introduced more features and enhancements to make it easier to launch relevant recommendations on-site or through email including several new recommendations types providing even more flexibility. In addition, an enhancement for existing SiteCatalyst users is that they can now expand recommendations types that make use of any product and popularity metric -- such as revenue, units sold, customer reviews and product or content sharing trends. This allows marketers to further tailor recommendations based on real-time activity and business needs.
Leading retailers who are currently leveraging Omniture Recommendations for automated online recommendations include Bakers Shoes, Improvement Direct, NorthernTool.com and PetCareRx.
"Our conversion rate increased by nearly 10 percent in just two weeks after adding Omniture Recommendations on our product detail pages," said Scott Cohn, director of merchandising and sales for Bakers Direct. "This replaced the manual recommendations process we had in place previously, and saves our team considerable time and resources and generates better results."
"We are taking advantage of a new boosting feature within Omniture Recommendations giving certain recommendations more prominence over others based on attributes such as brand, price and customer rating. Specifically, we are boosting recommendations that have a 3.5 customer rating or higher to measure the effect on conversion," said Nathan Miller, director of Internet marketing for NorthernTool.com. "It is important to have the ability to boost the weighting or importance of specific product attributes based on our business needs as well as customer activity."
Omniture Merchandising brings offline merchandising best practices to the online world and promotes products based on specific business goals and metrics to help shoppers easily find and select items. New features within Merchandising include SKU-level merchandising (offering merchandisers more granularity to apply business rules at the SKU level), as well as multi-product attribute selection so shoppers can refine a search by more than one product attribute such as customer rating, brand, price and/or color, all in one step. Top ecommerce sites engaging Omniture Merchandising to streamline merchandising best practices include MotoSport and REI. As one of the first companies to upgrade to the latest version of Omniture Merchandising, leading outdoor sports retailer REI is experiencing significant value.
"Just one hour after implementing the latest version of Omniture Merchandising, we saw a major improvement in our site's search performance, which translated to a 62 percent decrease in average search times. In a tough macroeconomic climate where ecommerce sites struggle to move the needle, improving our search performance is a powerful differentiator," said Ben Viscon, online merchandising manager for REI. "We have a sophisticated customer base that when shopping online, expects the same service, inventory and sales expertise they would receive at one of our retail locations. Omniture Merchandising helps us deliver on that promise."
Two additional products in Omniture's conversion portfolio include [ Omniture Test&Target ] and [ Omniture SiteSearch ].
- Test&Target tests various content and creative elements through automated A/B and multivariate testing methods and targets content by audience segments to maximize relevance and increase conversion. Online vendors using Test&Target to test and optimize retail content and offers include Bakers Shoes, Improvement Direct, MotoSport, NorthernTool.com and The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company.
- SiteSearch controls and optimizes product and content search results to guide visitors to the most relevant information. The application helps marketers better target search results to visitors, manage relevance and ranking and use site activity to automatically boost results based on criteria such as conversion and popularity. Leading ecommerce sites working with SiteSearch include Artbeads.com, Jockey.com, Musicnotes.com, Urban Outfitters and Wilton.
Omniture's conversion solutions include Omniture Merchandising, Recommendations, SiteSearch and Test&Target, all part of the [ Omniture Online Marketing Suite ], a comprehensive portfolio of optimization applications for Visitor Acquisition, Conversion, Online Analytics and Channel Analytics, which is built on an Open Business Analytics Platform.
