Wed, February 25, 2009 Tekelec: Tekelec Enables Policy Control, Authentication and Charging in IMS Networks at Plugfest 6
MORRISVILLE, NC--(Marketwire - February 25, 2009) - [ Tekelec ] (
Tekelec's [ EAGLE® XG ][ Call Session Control Function (CSCF) ], which provides core [ session initiation protocol (SIP) ] signaling and control within IMS networks, successfully tested with home subscriber servers (HSS), user equipment (UE), an offline charging system, an instant messaging application server and other CSCFs. The Tekelec EAGLE XG CSCF demonstrated the session flows required for IMS adoption by completing roaming of local subscribers to foreign networks and roaming of foreign subscribers to local networks.
Tekelec validated the EAGLE XG CSCF session flows with an instant messaging application server in various 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) roaming scenarios, and its secure authentication and key agreement (AKA) procedures. AKA requires complex interaction between equipment, CSCFs and the HSS, and must be vetted as part of a reliable IMS deployment.

Tekelec's EAGLE XG CSCF bridges existing and new services in next-generation networks (NGNs), hybrid networks and IMS scenarios, providing a common signaling and session control layer in all domains. The application separates the transport, control and application layers to allow operators to reuse common components such as presence and location and run a wide range of converged services across any access network.
Plugfest 6 participants set up the two simulated IMS networks in one and a half days and tested user equipment, application servers, service creation and robustness. The event was the first Plugfest to simultaneously achieve policy control, charging and the wide support of IP applications. Specific testing included complex call flows involving multi-vendor equipment in a single domain, inter and multi-domain configurations, and off-line billing scenarios.
