ANAHEIM, CA--(Marketwire - March 2, 2009) - "Most people say there's no such thing as a sure bet," said Tom Hemingway, CEO of MetroConnect, Inc. (OTCBB: [ MTCI ]) "But those people may change their minds soon. At least if they're MetroConnect customers," Hemingway added.

MetroConnect, Inc. (OTCBB: [ MTCI ]), a developer of WiMAX networks and provider of advanced broadband and communications solutions, today announced its new promotion offering drastically reduced prices on bandwidth upgrades to existing customers. The "Double Down" promotion allows customers to double their bandwidth at price points never before offered in the company's 12-year history.

The Double Down Promotion allows customers with 1 Mbps Internet connections to double their Internet speed to 2 Mbps for an additional $40 per month. Wireless T1 customers with 1.5 Mbps connection speeds can double their speed to 3 Mbps for and additional $60 per month. Customers currently subscribing to 3 Mbps can boost their connection to 6 Mbps, or the equivalent of four bonded T1s, for an additional $120 per month.

"We know our customers well," Hemingway said. "We know them well enough to realize that almost every business in our market wants increased bandwidth to enable increased efficiencies. We also know that in a troubled economy it can be very challenging to justify the costs of increased capacity," Hemingway added. "That's why we're offering this opportunity to all of our valuable customers. It's our way of helping them all improve their business and at the same time say thank you to our customers for allowing us to be your partner," Hemingway concluded.

"Offering promotions to existing customers is atypical in the broadband sector. As a rule ISPs offer incentives to potential new customers for short periods of time and after about 90 days that promotional pricing jumps right up to standard pricing levels. Once the service is installed customers hit with a price increase usually continue that service at a higher price. It's very rare that incentives are offered to an existing, loyal customer base. This latest MetroConnect promotion bucks that trend and offers discounts to existing customers that are typically only available to new customers," said Dick Hutt, Director of Customer Relations for MetroConnect.
