Mellanox InfiniBand Delivers Leading I/O Performance for New RAID X2-IB Layered Storage Solution
SANTA CLARA, Calif. & YOKNEAM, Israel--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Mellanox® Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ:MLNX) (TASE:MLNX), a leading supplier of semiconductor-based server and storage interconnect products, and RAID Inc., a customized storage solution and services provider specializing in leading edge technology, today announced that Mellanox's ConnectX® 40Gb/s InfiniBand adapters deliver the leading I/O performance for RAID's X2-IB. The X2-IB is a new InfiniBand layered storage solution designed for the most demanding high-performance computing applications for government, energy, finance, research, simulation, digital media and Internet service applications.
The X2-IB is capable of sustaining 80 to 160GB/sec on both reads and writes, can scale to over 1500 hard drives and uses 128GB of cache, and provides the latest technology to assure data integrity, self-healing, energy conservation and includes a complete suite of optional enterprise storage services.
"With the advantage of high bandwidth and low latency, InfiniBand-based storage devices are being rapidly deployed in data centers and high performance computing clusters," said Jeff Boles, Senior Analyst at the Taneja Group. "Compared to alternative storage interconnect technologies like Fibre Channel and iSCSI, InfiniBand offers significant performance and price improvements. This translates into real world customer advantages such as increased application performance, reduced backup times, greater system consolidation, lower power consumption and lower total cost of ownership."
"Mellanox's 40Gb/s InfiniBand technology allows us to deploy leading-edge solutions in a growing number of vertical markets due to the compelling cost/performance benefit analysis," said Bob Picardi, COO at RAID Inc.
"InfiniBand's high bandwidth, low latency, dedicated I/O channels, QoS and RDMA features can lower capital expenses and operating costs, making it the right choice for storage and fabric consolidation," said Wayne Augsburger, vice president of business development at Mellanox Technologies. "With proven reliability, scalability and industry-leading 40Gb/s performance, the RAID X2-IB excels at meeting the need for high-performance and enterprise storage applications."
