CUPERTINO, CA--(Marketwire - December 15, 2008) - ArcSight, Inc. (NASDAQ: [ ARST ]), a leading global provider of compliance and security management solutions that protect enterprises and government agencies, today announced it was named the lead "in plan" vendor by IT professionals planning to purchase security information event management (SIEM) and event log management solutions in Wave 10 of TheInfoPro™ Information Security Study published in Fall 2008. The study ranks information security companies based on interviews with 211 IT professionals at large and medium-sized enterprises in North America and Europe, and provides direct feedback on key issues in security markets, hot new security technologies, spending plans, vendor ratings, and projects in 2008. In TheInfoPro Information Security Technology Heat Index®, which gauges the immediacy of user needs and planned spending for 43 security technologies, SIEM and event log management systems ranked near the top with SIEM ranked at #5 and event log management systems ranked at #8. Wave 10 of the Information Security Study marked the first time that TheInfoPro asked participants for feedback on log management systems.

Among the findings of the study were the following:

-- 57 percent of participants that rated ArcSight plan to spend more money on its products in 2008 than they did in 2007 -- ArcSight received solid customer ratings in both promise (customer ratings of competitive positioning, technical innovation, management's strategic vision, and brand/reputation) and fulfillment (customer ratings of value for money, product quality, delivery of products as promised, and technical support) -- Additionally, almost 70 percent of participants stated that they preferred event log management to be integrated with SIEM solutions.

"We are excited that once again TheInfoPro's Information Security Study supports our belief of the importance of ArcSight Compliance and Security solutions within the security industry and the broader IT sector. We believe that the study's results reflect that ArcSight solutions are a high priority for many of the world's largest organizations as well as mid-size businesses, reflecting the quality of our solutions," said Tom Reilly, president and CEO of ArcSight.

"According to our ongoing waves of TheInfoPro Information Security Study, ArcSight keeps placing higher with respect to promise and fulfillment -- and the latter is particularly important, because fulfilling promise is crucial to increasing mindshare and market share," said Bill Trussell, Managing Director of Security Research at TheInfoPro.
