Attention Business and Technology Editors
[ Sandvine ], (TSX:SVC)(AIM:SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions, today announced that it has won an award for its Usage Management product. The [ Broadband Traffic Management Awards ] were established to celebrate and give recognition of quality, innovation and leadership to achievements made in the traffic management industry. The judging panel was comprised of analysts representing six major independent research firms including: ABI, Analysis Mason, Heavy Reading, Informa, Ovum and the Yankee Group.
Award winners were revealed Tuesday night at a cocktail reception on the first evening of the Broadband Traffic Management Global Congress. Accepting on behalf of Sandvine, Dave Caputo, Sandvine CEO, said: "Sandvine has been a major innovator of intelligent broadband solutions since the industry began. We strive to offer service providers award-winning tools for network business intelligence and data insight; traffic management solutions that both optimize network resources and the subscriber experience; and lastly, provide the opportunity for providers to implement service creation programs. It is truly an honor to be recognized for this work by such an esteemed panel of major industry analyst judges."
Sandvine's Usage Management product was recognized as "Best Implementation of Tiered Data Pricing", for an innovative tiered pricing data plan implemented by a number of mobile properties within the Telefónica group. Subscribers can choose from application-based plans such as unlimited email, chat, social networking, and real-time entertainment. These plans continue to gain popularity with subscribers who prefer the plan cost certainty over a variable price consumption-based model. Operators like Telefónica benefit by insuring its service plans and network capacity investments are aligned with consumer demand for popular broadband applications and content.
Sandvine was also shortlisted in the category of "Best Integration of Traffic Management into OSS/BSS Architectures." Sandvine's Fairshare Traffic Management product was recognized for its implementation of fair access to constrained network resources and ability to control an operator's CapEx investment, while focusing on the quality of experience for subscribers.
