LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - April 11, 2011) - j2 Global Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: [ JCOM ]), the provider of cloud-based, value-added communication, messaging and backup services, today announced that CEO Hemi Zucker has been selected as a Commissioner to TechAmerica Foundation's Commission on the Leadership Opportunity in the U.S. Deployment of the Cloud (CLOUD2). Mr. Zucker, who has been with j2 Global since 1996, is credited with helping steer the company's transition from that as a primary provider of online fax services (eFax®) to becoming a leading provider of cloud services for business in the online fax, voice, email, and data backup sectors.

The Commission is comprised of experts from industry and academia, with members from both the commercial and public sectors. Mr. Zucker is one of 21 commissioners who will represent the commercial sector.

CLOUD2 will be broken into public sector deployment and commercial policy considerations. Technology visionaries Marc Benioff, Chairman and CEO of [ salesforce.com ], and VCE Chairman and CEO Michael D. Capellas serve as co-chairs of the commission. CSC President of North American Public Sector Jim Sheaffer will serve as vice chairman and Microsoft Corporate Vice President of Technology Policy and Strategy Dan Reed, who also leads the company's eXtreme Computing Group (XCG), will also serve as vice chairman. Recommendations for government deployment will be presented to Federal Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra. Commercial-facing recommendations will be shared with Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and Commerce Under Secretary Pat Gallagher.
