BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwire - April 12, 2011) - Xeround ([ www.xeround.com ]), the Cloud Database company, today announced that their database-as-a-service for MySQL-based applications is now built on top of the Rackspace Cloud. In addition, Xeround has entered into the Rackspace® Hosting (NYSE: [ RAX ]) Cloud Tools Program.

Xeround's cloud database architecture is vendor-agnostic, meaning it can run on any cloud service provider. Users that choose Xeround can avoid vendor lock-in and run their database on any cloud provider as well as migrate seamlessly between different clouds without requiring any code changes to their applications.

Xeround's database-as-a-service is already available on Amazon EC2 in the United States and in Europe, and on the Heroku platform-as-a-service. Xeround has many users running on Rackspace that have requested Rackspace support -- this announcement serves to meet the demand Xeround already sees in the market.

When signing up for Xeround, customers can now choose to create their cloud database in Rackspace's data center. The service will initially be offered as a limited beta on the Rackspace Cloud in the US, and full integration with the Rackspace Cloud in the UK is scheduled to be available within the next couple of months.

"Rackspace is excited to have Xeround's MySQL database as a service built on top of the Rackspace Cloud and made available to our customers who need a cloud database solution," said Nishan Sivathasan, Director of Corporate Development at Rackspace Hosting. "Xeround is meeting the growing demands for an always-on and elastic cloud database, and we are pleased to work with them to provide customers more efficient and scalable services for MySQL databases on the Rackspace Cloud."

"We are very excited to be partnering with Rackspace," said Razi Sharir, CEO of Xeround. "Rackspace is one of the leading vendors of cloud computing, and adding Rackspace to our service is a major step forward for us in offering our customers multiple cloud platforms to choose from."

Xeround and Rackspace will host a joint webinar on May 3rd, 2011. To register, visit [ https://cc.readytalk.com/r/ob8plpzpb06f ]
