IRa?s IRS2053M 3-Channel Class D Audio Driver IC Delivers Superior Sound Quality in a Smaller Footprint

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--International Rectifier, IR^� (NYSE: IRF), a world leader in power management technology, today introduced the IRS2053M 200 V driver IC for use in Class D Audio applications including high performance home theater systems and car audio amplifiers requiring a compact footprint.

Based on a Class D audio amplifier topology, the IRS2053M integrates three channels of high-voltage, high performance half-bridge drivers with PWM modulators. The new devicea�s comprehensive set of protection features includes programmable bi-directional current sensing to protect high- and low-side MOSFETs from over-current conditions. Other key features include logic compatible input and floating PWM input.

aThe IRS2053M offers a Class D Audio solution with excellent sound quality, delivering a smaller footprint and higher power compared to alternative solutions when combined with IRa�s high efficiency power MOSFETs. Moreover, when co-designed with the single channel IRS2092(S) and four channel IRS2093M, the IRS2053M offers the flexibility to configure 2.1 channel, 6 channel and 6.1 channel applications,a said Jun Honda, director of audio systems engineering, IRa�s Energy Saving Products Business Unit.

IRa�s extensive range of digital audio MOSFETs addressing output power from 50W to 150W, are optimized for the IRS2053M to reduce component count and PCB space while achieving improved performance, efficiency, THD and EMI.
