indiePub Brings Young Game Developers to the Forefront with Coma
CINCINNATI--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--A new trend is emerging among the independent game development community where the developers are getting younger and the games are getting better. indiePub Games has experienced this trend first-hand, and is now capitalizing on the innovative ideas of young savant developers and bringing their concepts to life, and to console.
"But in all actuality, we are seeing that age and experience are not a hindrance to innovation, but in fact, an advantage to creating fresh and progressive titles."
Working with Zoo Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZOOG) to develop and publish these titles, indiePub has created a platform for young developers to give their ideas and concepts a fighting chance at publication. One such title, Coma, is a prime example of young developers bringing their games to life via Zooa™s digital initiative, indiePub. Created by Thomas Brush at 19, Coma is a beautifully designed adventure title where the player wakes up in a subconscious dreamland, and must find his way back to reality. The title is set to release on PSP Mini, Android, PlayStation Network, PC, iPhone and iPad next year.
Coma is not the only success story of young developers making a name for themselves through indiePub. At only 17 years old, Iran native Mahdi Bahrami has just been awarded Community Favorite by indiePub and its community of gamers and developers. His game, Bo, is a puzzle game wherein the player creates colored blocks to move in and out of negative space. In addition to being voted Community Favorite by indiePub, Bahrami just returned from Tokyoa™s Sense of Wonder Night where he was asked to present his titles to gaming press and enthusiasts.
Creating ideas and concepts that often elude industry veterans, CEO of Zoo, Mark Seremet, is astounded by the innovation emerging from young developers. aOften times, people assume it is the developers with years of experience under their belt that are coming up with these extremely original and engaging ideas,a said Seremet. aBut in all actuality, we are seeing that age and experience are not a hindrance to innovation, but in fact, an advantage to creating fresh and progressive titles.a
Coma is in development and slated for a 2011 release on PSP Mini, Android, iPhone, iPad, PSN and PC.
