


RCN Supports High Speed Competition by Sponsoring Nautica NYC Triathlon
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - July 15, 2010) - [ RCN ] (
The Nautica New York City Triathlon is expected to have more than 3,000 participants. Because the course distance is the same as Olympic triathlons, this competition is expected to draw Olympic contenders and previous medal winners. The [ course ] will consist of a 1,500 meter swim in the Hudson River, a 40 kilometer bike ride and a 10 kilometer run that finishes with a sprint across the finish line in Central Park.
The RCN High Speed Transition Zone consists of two large fields where swimmers will trade in their goggles for their bike and proceed to the Westside Highway. After completing their ride, participants will move to the final leg of the race and loop around Central Park. To better prepare for the competition, triathletes can take the RCN High Speed Transition Tour Saturday, July 17 from 2:30-5:30pm.
The company is also sponsoring the [ RCN High Speed Transition Tips video ], which provides tips to help improve a racer's time, as well as the [ RCN High Speed Course Tour ], a video that gives competitors a road map of what to expect on race day. Also making a return this year is the "RCN Call Center," where athletes and attendees can make free phone calls using RCN's new VoIP product at the triathlon's JetBlue Finish Festival. Last year, RCN connected more than 2,000 calls from the finish line.
