ROSEVILLE, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Unify Corp. (NASDAQ:UNFY), a global provider of application modernization software, today announced new offerings for mainframe application migration solutions through signed partnerships with ATERAS and Information Analysis Inc. (IAI). Building upon its recent acquisition of Oracle Forms application migration provider CipherSoft, Inc., the partnerships enable Unify to add automated migration solutions for mainframe languages and databases to its growing modernization and migration portfolio.

Recently, industry analyst firms have begun to discuss how the approaching retirement of a large number of IT professionals with legacy programming skills will impact application modernization decisions. These IT developers not only have deep domain knowledge about the programming languages and databases, but also about the application business logic and data. This trend is putting pressure on organizations to find cost-effective alternatives for maintaining legacy systems. One compelling choice many organizations are considering is to migrate applications off of old code and databases in a structured way that reduces their time, cost and risk.

Through the ATERAS partnership, Unify will be able to offer a complete solution for companies needing to modernize their legacy mainframe applications. ATERAS' automation suite, DB Shuttle™ includes solutions for migrating mainframe code and non-relational databases from IDMS, IMS, VSAM or from Natural / Adabas to COBOL, C# or JAVA code, with either a DB2, SQL Server or Oracle database. Partnering with IAI allows Unify to deliver solutions for migrating Ideal / Datacom to COBOL code with either a DB2 or Oracle database.

"The partnerships with ATERAS and IAI will enable Unify to address a new segment of the legacy migration market, leveraging best-of-breed solutions to expand our application modernization portfolio," said Todd Wille, CEO of Unify. "We will initially focus on penetrating the government sector as it has an extremely large number of legacy mainframe applications and a high rate of retirement among IT professionals that are knowledgeable in these systems."

"The business case for migration has never been stronger," said Scott Miller, CEO, president of ATERAS. "We are excited to partner with Unify. Their expertise in the legacy migration market furthers our reach and focus. ATERAS' automated solution reduces the risk and offers dramatically shorter conversion times, in many cases providing a ROI within one year."

"IAI is pleased to formalize our partnership with Unify," said Sandy Rosenberg, CEO of IAI. "This approach will enable all parties to benefit, particularly our government sector clients. Combining the strength of Unify's software migration portfolio with IAI's proven expertise and tools for code and database conversions will result in practical, effective solutions that meet modernization objectives."
