LEUVEN, BELGIUM--(Marketwire - December 19, 2008) - A second European operator is now offering a Mobile Internet Device (MID) based on a wireless embedded module from Option N.V. (EURONEXT Brussels: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY). The MID is being marketed by Italy's leading mobile operator TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile) as the Alice Mobile MID IDOL

The Alice Mobile MID IDOL - an MID with HSPA connectivity, 4.8" touch screen, retractable keyboard, Intel's Atom processor, 4.5 GB integrated memory and weighing 320 grams - enables anywhere, anytime access to the Internet and popular web-based services such as email, instant messaging and social networks.

The launch of the Alice Mobile MID IDOL in Italy reflects the continuing progress of Option's initiative to become a leading supplier of 3G wireless broadband connectivity for MIDs. Earlier this year the company announced that SFR had launched an MID, the SFR M! PC Pocket 3G+, in France. Forecasts about MIDs volume shipments from independent analysts range from 90 to 136 million units a year by 2012/13.
