Florida teen wins Orlando Science Center competition using AI to simplify dementia diagnosis

A 17-year-old high school student from Florida, Angelina Tsuboi, won first place at the Orlando Science Challenge for her project on using artificial intelligence to detect and prevent wildfires. Her project, which she developed over the course of a year, uses satellite imagery and machine learning algorithms to identify areas at high risk for wildfires and alert local authorities. Tsuboi's work impressed the judges not only for its potential to save lives and property, but also for its innovative use of technology to address a pressing environmental issue. She was awarded a $10,000 prize and the opportunity to present her findings at a national science conference.
