Applications for Syracuse's new STEAM High School are now open to 8th graders who live in Onondaga, Cortland or Madison counties.
The Syracuse STEAM High School, set to open in the fall of 2025, has begun accepting applications for its inaugural class. Located in the former Central Tech building, the school will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education, aiming to provide a specialized learning environment for students interested in these fields. The application process is open to all eighth graders in the Syracuse City School District, with a lottery system in place if the number of applicants exceeds the available spots. The school will offer advanced courses, hands-on learning experiences, and partnerships with local businesses and institutions like Syracuse University and SUNY ESF. It will also feature unique programs such as a culinary arts track and a focus on sustainability. The application deadline is set for February 29, 2024, with the lottery to be held in March 2024.
