FORT COLLINS, Colo.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ:IXYS), a leader in power semiconductors for power conversion and motion control applications, announced today that its IXYSRF division has released the PDG-3900, an ultra high speed delay and pulse generator. Utilizing state of the art technology and DEIa™s pulse systems expertise, the team at IXYS Colorado developed an intuitive touch screen enabled pulse generator. The PDG-3900 literally provides extremely high speed performance at the touch of a finger.

"The combination of high performance pulse characteristics and our touch screen interface gives the PDG-3900 user the flexibility and ease of operation that will reduce time spent configuring the instrument and allow more time to be spent on applications"

As test, experimentation and product timing continues to push the boundaries of high speed and resolution while continually requiring reduced pulse variability, new instruments are required to meet the application needs in quality control, research and development, test and measurement and others. As these application requirements become more complex the importance of improving the ease of operation becomes equally important in reducing time and cost in both scientific and industrial environments. The PDG-3900 answers these problems with high performance pulse and delay generation combined with an interface specifically designed to minimize the time required to both learn and operate the instrument.

Developed specifically for high speed, high resolution and low jitter applications, the PDG-3900 is a leap forward for trigger/gate pulsing, delay, sync & trigger pulsing of integrated systems and lasers including multiple laser configurations as well as timing and laser pumping, femtosecond laser mode locking and delay & synchronization of high speed optics such as shutters, photo-detectors and flashes.

The PDG-3900 provides pulse repetition rates up to 100MHz, extremely low jitter and delay resolution adjustability of 1pS.

aThe combination of high performance pulse characteristics and our touch screen interface gives the PDG-3900 user the flexibility and ease of operation that will reduce time spent configuring the instrument and allow more time to be spent on applications,a said Stephen Krausse, General Manager of DEI.

Four delay channels utilizing standard BNC connectors allow many application and experimentation options. The direct encoder allows users to dynamically change pulse characteristics while the unit is enabled providing the real-time adjustability of an analog signal generator with the precision of a digital instrument. An external trigger channel integrates the PDG-3900 into a wide variety of experimental setups both simple and complex.

Communications via GPIB, Ethernet and RS232 are all standard and easily configured. Remote and local operating modes are visually identified on the front panel by an LED.

The PDG-3900 will provide high speed, high resolution delay and pulse generation with extremely low jitter for both scientific and industrial applications combined with unprecedented ease of use.
