Solar3D Shapes Its Operational Plan for 3-D Solar Cell Development

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Solar3D, Inc. (OTCBB: SLTD), the developer of a breakthrough 3-dimensional solar cell technology to maximize the conversion of sunlight into electricity, today announced details of its plan for the development of the Companya�s solar cell.

Inspired by light management techniques used in fiber optic devices, the companya�s innovative solar cell technology utilizes a 3-dimensional design to trap sunlight inside micro-photovoltaic structures where photons bounce around until they are converted into electrons. The companya�s management believes that this breakthrough solar cell will dramatically change the economics of solar energy.

Solar3D plans to have a working prototype by the end of 2011, according to Mr. Nelson. During the course of the year, key milestones have been set to guide the efforts of the development team including:

1. The design of the light-trapping element of the solar cell.

2. The determination of its expected efficiency.

3. The design of the 3-dimensional micro-photovoltaic structure of the cell.

4. Fabrication of prototype.
