Solution Enables Increased Capacity, Flexibility and Reliability on Fiber Networks Which are Increasingly Seen as a Critical Part of the U.S. Government's Defense Infrastructure
RESTON, Va.-September 28, 2009-Ericsson Federal Inc. (EFI), a U.S.-based, wholly-owned subsidiary of LM Ericsson AB, today announced that its Marconi MHL 3000 Multi-Haul Optical Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) platform has just passed rigorous testing to ensure that U.S. government agencies' critical communications can be delivered with the highest security and reliability.
The platform was tested and certified by the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC), and is now listed on the Unified Capabilities Approved Products List in the Transport Appliances category under the Network Infrastructure section. JITC is DISA's primary agent for testing, evaluation and certifying information technology and national security systems used in joint and combined operations.
"As the demand for mission imperative broadband services increases in the federal government, it is important to ensure our products meet the most stringent testing standards to address the needs of the defense community," said Doug Smith, president and CEO of Ericsson Federal. "With this certification, customers can be assured that our solutions are ready to be implemented into their sensitive environments immediately."
MHL 3000 is a flexible and versatile platform to address the optical transport in metro and Core applications, reaching the 3.2Tb/s capacity over 4000km reach. The single platform addresses a range of applications from CWDM to high DWDM channel counts and longer distances, at rates up to 100Gbit/s, to satisfy increased traffic demand and higher bit rate services. Additionally, the MHL 3000 feature set includes full implementation of Optical Transport Networking (OTN-G.709) with end-to-end monitoring and a wide range of solutions for router-to-router applications, e.g. 40G/100G transmission based on DPSK, and RZ-DQPSK.
