Cubic Corporation: Cubic Receives $40 Million Order to Train U.S. Military Advisors

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - September 29, 2009) - Under a contract modification worth more than $40 million, Cubic Applications, Inc., the mission support services unit of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: [ CUB ]), will train thousands of U.S. military personnel who will be helping the national armies of Iraq and Afghanistan provide defense and security for their populations.

"We are training U.S. service people who are going to be military advisors," said Bill David, vice president and program manager for Cubic's support operations at the Army's Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

Training is currently underway at Fort Polk; Fort Benning and Fort Stewart, Georgia; and Fort Drum, New York. During the training, Cubic presents a series of 60-day programs involving both classroom instruction and simulations of actual operations. Trainees learn how to instruct their Afghan and Iraqi counterparts to plan and conduct military operations, and also how to establish systems and processes, manage personnel, logistics and payroll. Cubic will provide role players to portray Iraqi civilians and members of the international media who are on the battlefield interacting with and observing the military forces. Iraqis and Afghans with military training in those countries will role-play Iraq and Afghan army officers.

Cubic has been providing support services for JRTC since 1997, and now employs about 1,500 full- and part-time workers at Fort Polk. It has helped train U.S. Army Light Infantry, Airborne Air Assault, Ranger and Special Operations forces, as well as specialized units with the Navy, Air Force and Marines.
