DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - March 16, 2009) - Rivet® Software today announced it has joined the IBM (NYSE: [ IBM ]) Software as a Service (SaaS) Specialty to deliver XBRL creation, viewing and analysis solutions to U.S. public companies that are required to submit financial information in eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) format under the recently adopted mandate by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The SaaS model appeals to finance and accounting users because of its convenience, rapid deployment and minimal need for investment. By leveraging this increasingly popular enterprise model, Rivet is able to provide services to its clients from a secure, scalable and highly available environment through IBM's Managed Hosting services delivered on IBM System x servers.

"SaaS is one of the fastest growing segments of the IT industry because it provides companies of all sizes with access to innovative solutions delivered remotely via a subscription model," said Dave Mitchell, director of strategy, IBM Developer Relations. "Rivet's commitment to SaaS can provide its customers with a powerful way to reduce implementation costs while rapidly deploying business applications."

IBM offers hardware, software and infrastructure technologies to help its Business Partners, such as Rivet Software, deliver secure and scalable services. This teaming will enable Rivet Software to design, build, deliver and market SaaS solutions to help their clients implement software solutions that will make it easier to manage reporting of financial information in XBRL format.

"We are pleased that IBM has accepted our company into its SaaS Specialty," said Michael Rohan, founder and president, Rivet Software. "The speed of change in organizations, such as the need to respond to the global adoption of XBRL, requires agile solutions that can be deployed as quickly and simply as possible without compromising security and reliability."

The IBM SaaS Specialty partner program provides valuable benefits, resources, technical enablement and marketing support. In addition, Business Partners gain access to IBM Innovation Centers, providing them with technical support and expertise for helping them test, build and optimize cloud services based on open platforms.
