SAN DIEGO--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--JMAR Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: JMAR), a leading innovator in the development and commercialization of sensing systems for the detection of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive materials, today announced the results of an independent study into the different purity levels of the leading brands of bottled water based on the Company's unique pathogen detection technology. The findings were surprising as they revealed that many of the higher priced brands contained heavier concentrations of bio-particle contamination than less expensive brands. The results of the study can be viewed at [ http://www.jmar.com/BioSentry_bottled_water.shtml ].

These results indicate that, in addition to protecting water supplies against contamination, the Company's BioSentry® detection systems can now be used in the marketplace to protect consumers. Accordingly, the Company expects to focus its initial marketing efforts for BioSentry® towards the beverage, pharmaceutical, food processing and healthcare markets. It is expected that these four industries will likely accept BioSentry® as the industry standard in successfully detecting bacteria during manufacturing processes.

"This practical application of our BioSentry® technology in evaluating the purity of bottled water demonstrates a mature product ready to provide consumers with the security of knowing that their drinking water is safe from dangerous levels of harmful pathogens," said JMAR's CEO, C. Neil Beer, Ph.D. "We are looking forward to launching a nationwide media campaign to report these findings as well as further strengthen JMAR's position as a bio-detection company with innovative and essential products."

The nationwide media campaign will launch in January 2009 and is designed to build awareness for JMAR's award-winning, EPA tested laser-based BioSentry® system, the only commercialized online system for real-time detection of bacteria in water. BioSentry® is currently providing water quality security at sites in the U.S., Europe, and other locations worldwide. The campaign will target major media outlets across the nation, including broadcast, print and Internet.
