Schaeffer's Early Edge: Nokia's CEO Releases Upbeat Comments

CINCINNATI--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--In an interview Thursday with the Financial Times, Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK) CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo asserted that his company will focus on profit development. "We will continue to combine market share and margins in the right way in order to maximize the bottom line," said the Finnish firm's chief executive.

Amid an environment of slipping handset sales, many of NOK's competitors are slashing prices to meet sales targets. However, Kallasvuo believes his company's broad product portfolio gives it a competitive edge. "The fact that we are commercial in all price points will give us the possibility, if the trade-down happens, to sell another device, which is not always the case with competitors who have a more limited portfolio," he observed.
