MILPITAS, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Sigma Designs (NASDAQ:SIGM), a leader in digital media processing system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for consumer electronics, today announced it will integrate Adobe Flash Lite™ software, Adobe's Flash Player for mobile phones and devices, into Sigma's SoC solutions for the most advanced digital television and web service capabilities in the digital home.

Sigma silicon solutions along with the integrated Adobe Flash Platform will bring the richest, most engaging interactive experiences and services over high definition televisions, IPTV and cable-IP set top boxes, Blu-ray players and digital media adapters. It will also bring rich web content and Adobe Flash based applications to the digital home market, and ultimately make the TV the main hub for entertainment and content services.

"The number of home devices that allow access to web content has proliferated over the past couple of years. Today, consumers are using these devices to interact and view the Web on the same television they watch their favorite shows on," said Ken Lowe, vice president of strategic marketing, Sigma Designs. "Our collaboration with Adobe represents the ongoing convergence of Web and TV that will allow consumers to access powerful feature-rich, interactive content anywhere they want to, as Adobe Flash is the leading video format on the web today."

"Together, Adobe and Sigma are bridging the gap between digital TV and the Web," said Danny Winokur, senior director for Business Development, Flash Platform at Adobe. "Sigma is key in delivering high definition media processors in many of today's high definition markets such as Blu-ray, IPTV set top boxes, and HDTVs. By combining the rich graphical effects of the Adobe Flash Platform with the advanced features of their media processors, Sigma is helping to deliver advanced digital television services that leverage the best technologies to consumers worldwide."

The Adobe Flash Platform is the de facto standard for delivering breakthrough applications, content and video on the Web. Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Flash Lite are on over 98 percent of connected computers and more than 800 million devices, and deliver more than 80 percent of Web video worldwide, ensuring that content and applications are presented consistently in the format users want.
