BEIJING--(Marketwire - December 16, 2008) - Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: [ ARUN ]), a global leader in wireless LANs and secure unified mobility solutions, today announced that Fuzhou University has deployed Aruba Wi-Fi networks across its campus in Fujian Province, situated along the southeast coast of China. Founded in 1958, Fuzhou University covers 800,000 square meters and supports more than 25,000 students. The university had not previously deployed a wireless network, and sought to offer universal wireless network access to faculty, staff, students, and guests. To overcome security limitations with the wired network, identity-based security was a prerequisite for the wireless network. Following a public tender, Aruba was selected for the project based on the robustness and performance of its Wi-Fi solution and its user identity- and role-based security management capabilities.

"We have now blanketed our campus with wireless coverage, and Aruba's wireless network has demonstrated outstanding network stability, performance, and security," said Song Zhigang, the Deputy Director of Fuzhou University's Network Center. "Our teachers, students and visitors can access the campus network from any indoor or outdoor location on campus. We're now planning to roll out voice over Wi-Fi IP services, and to investigate campus wireless video monitoring. Our faculty also plan to use the new network for advanced research on Wi-Fi. While we purchased the network with one objective in mind, we have found it so flexible and scalable that its role in the university has expanded considerably."

The university has deployed three Aruba MMC 6000 Multi-Service Mobility Controllers to manage the site's 1500 access points. The controllers handle all network authentication, the policy enforcement firewall, wireless intrusion detection, and data encryption. The centralized architecture simplifies system management, diagnostics, and maintenance, minimizing IT overhead time and costs.

"Fuzhou University is one of 100 select universities in the Chinese government's '211 Project' to enhance facilities and infrastructure, and Aruba is honored to participate in the program," said Joseph Yip, General Manager of Aruba Greater China. "Aruba was awarded the project following a very competitive tender process. The easy deployment and reliable performance are consistent with the experience of hundreds of other customers in China. We look forward to continuing to support the university with additional VoWiFi and video monitoring applications in the near future."

About Aruba Networks

People move. Networks must follow. Aruba securely delivers networks to users, wherever they work or roam. Our mobility solutions enable the Follow-Me Enterprise that moves in lock-step with users:
