In the fall of 2024, 6th-grade students at Bessemer Middle School went above and beyond, winning the Institute Competition of Sciences (ICS) 'Plant the Moon Cha

The "Plant the Moon Challenge" is an educational initiative by NASA aimed at engaging students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through a unique project where they attempt to grow plants in simulated lunar soil. This challenge, part of NASA's broader educational outreach, encourages students to explore how agriculture might be conducted on the Moon, addressing real-world problems like food production in space. The program not only fosters an interest in space exploration but also teaches critical thinking, problem-solving, and the application of scientific methods.
