Ixia and HGI Successfully Validate Service Delivery at Multi-Vendor Home Gateway Event

CALABASAS, CA--(Marketwire - April 5, 2011) - [ Ixia ] (NASDAQ: [ XXIA ]), a leading, global provider of converged IP network test solutions, today announced that its award-winning [ IxNetwork ], [ IxLoad ], and [ Test Conductor ] solutions were used in the second annual [ Home Gateway Initiative ] (HGI) test event hosted and managed by TRaC Global, a leading global testing and compliance consultancy based in Hull, United Kingdom. At this event, Ixia's test solutions assured home IP service deployment by validating the seamless interoperability of devices, networks, and services into a homogeneous, easy-to-use broadband environment. Using end-to-end system automation, Ixia's test platforms quickly and effectively measured the network performance, quality of service (QoS), multisession capability, and energy use of home gateways for 10 participating vendors.

As consumers increasingly demand sophisticated services such as video and data streaming, telecom operators are struggling to find an efficient, cost-effective way to provide them. HGI works in conjunction with industry leaders such as Ixia to facilitate the development of home gateway devices that match the business requirements of telecom operators.

Ixia's IxNetwork and IxLoad test applications, used with its Test Conductor automation tool, allowed vendors to quickly and easily test the functionality of their home gateways against operator requirements. IxNetwork tested the devices by exchanging control and data traffic with the gateways. Tests were performed at high capacity, simulating network over-subscription to ensure proper QoS handling at maximum load. Test Conductor is an easy-to-use test automation environment, which provides a complete multi-vendor test automation framework for IP testing -- enabling vendors to pinpoint problems immediately, without having to understand Tcl programming.

[ TRaC Global ] held the event at its flagship test facility in Hull, United Kingdom from November 22 to December 3, 2010, with participating vendors that included Broadcom, Comtrend, D-Link, Hitachi, Mindspeed, NEC, Prosyst, Sercomm, Sumitomo, and Transwitch.
