SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - March 28, 2011) - Cubic Defence New Zealand, Ltd., part of the defense systems segment of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: [ CUB ]), has appointed Mike Toxopeus as its new General Manager. Toxopeus will be in charge of operations in Auckland, where about 135 employees are stationed.

Before joining Cubic in mid February, Toxopeus was the Industrial Services Business Manager for SGS in New Zealand. SGS is the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, with more than 64,000 employees and 1,250 offices and laboratories around the world.

A native New Zealander, Toxopeus joined the Royal New Zealand Navy out of high school as a Marine Engineering Officer. He served in a variety of sea, shore and overseas postings before being appointed as the Director of Marine Engineering with the Naval Staff. After nearly 21 years of service, he left the Navy in 2005 with a rank of Commander.

Toxopeus has a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Auckland; a Master of Science degree in Marine Engineering (Gas Turbines) from Plymouth University in the United Kingdom; and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering (with Honors) from the University of Auckland.
