REDWOOD SHORES, CA--(Marketwire - March 22, 2011) - [ iPass® Inc. ] (NASDAQ: [ IPAS ]), a leading provider of [ enterprise mobility services ], today announced an update to its [ Open Device Framework (ODF) ], a set of XML-based APIs that reduces the complexity, cost and time to deployment of integrating wireless cards from any carrier into the [ iPass Open Mobile Platform ].

ODF accelerates secure integration of new wireless cards and also provides a SaaS console within the iPass Open Mobile Platform for managing large-scale 3G and 4G wireless card deployments. Today ODF supports more than 200 wireless cards out-of-the-box, including 4G wireless cards.

"For global enterprises 3G and 4G wireless card management is complex with multiple wireless cards from multiple carriers," said [ Barbara Nelson, Chief Technology Officer at iPass ]. "ODF empowers IT departments to integrate new wireless cards simply and swiftly while also providing a core offering of wireless cards already supported within the Open Mobile Platform."

From the Open Mobile Platform console, IT managers can search for and select from more than 200 supported wireless cards. For new wireless cards, IT managers can use the ODF tools to reduce the integration timeframe from a few months to a matter of hours in most cases. Once a wireless card is integrated, IT can take advantage of iPass enterprise mobility services, which deliver a consistent and intuitive connectivity experience to their employees across the breadth of mobile networks and devices. With a single point of control to implement mobile data roaming and Wi-Fi costs along with security and compliance measures across a mobile workforce; the Open Mobile Platform provides IT departments with greater control of devices and connectivity policies. Additionally, IT departments can provide a deeper level of reporting and analysis on mobile usage across all networks and all devices.
