CALGARY, Feb. 25 /CNW/ - Axia NetMedia Corporation (TSX: AXX) (Axia) today announced that its French-based company Covage has been selected to operate an enterprise network for a period of ten years for the city of Nîmes in southwestern France.  Deployment of the network will begin in March 2011 and Covage expects to begin offering wholesale bandwidth services by the end of 2011. The capital for the network will be funded by the city of Nîmes. Covage will be responsible for executing the business and commercial aspects of the network.

Jean-Michel Soulier, President of Axia Networks France commented, "This is an exciting opportunity for Covage as we are working closely with Retail Service Providers to promote the use of the enterprise network by bundling bandwidth services with services provided by the RSPs such as Internet access, IP telephony, video conferencing, hosting and data backup.  This makes a very attractive service offering for the business park and its tenants."

Since last year, Covage has been targeting business parks. This strategy is supported by a government initiative to encourage migration of business parks from DSL to fibre optic services. To date Covage has 210 business parks with fibre to the premise services available to 9,400 potential end users.

Axia sells Real Broadband™ and passive services on Next Generation Networks that have implemented the Axia NGN Solution. To date, the Axia NGN Solution has been implemented in Alberta, France, Singapore and Spain. Axia trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol "AXX".
