Network Equipment Technologies Successfully Completes Interoperability Testing of UX2000 With Polycom SpectraLink Phones
FREMONT, CA--(Marketwire - February 23, 2011) - Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. ("NET") (
Polycom's SpectraLink Wireless Telephones operate on a converged voice and data Wi-Fi infrastructure and significantly improve mobility, responsiveness, and productivity for the mobile workforce in industry verticals such as healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and hospitality. By registering with UX2000, Polycom's SpectraLink Wireless Telephones can be used in conjunction with Microsoft Lync.
NET's UX2000 provides Polycom's devices with basic phone functionality without a need for a separate softswitch. On a single UX2000 appliance, up to 1,000 SpectraLink handsets can be registered, enabling users to make intra-office calls, PSTN calls, and calls to Microsoft Lync. Additionally, the UX2000's native Active Directory-based call routing can be extended to users with these Polycom wireless phones.
"Through our relationship with NET, we offer customers a single device solution that will reduce call routing complexity by centralizing the routing in the gateway instead of through multiple locations," said Chris Thorson, director of product marketing at Polycom. "This is an ideal solution for onsite mobile workers in both small and large enterprises with multiple branch office locations. We remain committed to offering open, standards-based communications solutions to our customers, and we're delighted to team with NET to offer solutions for increased productivity and responsiveness."
The UX2000 is a modular, high performance 1U system that has been purpose-built for unified communications (UC), enterprise border controller, and multi-service business gateway applications, and is qualified as a Microsoft Lync Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA).
"The UX2000 is a true enterprise-class product designed for modularity, outstanding performance, and ease of use. It was purpose-built to provide a high quality user experience for UC and provides customers with robust scalability and branch survivability options for their Lync 2010 deployments," said Kevin Isacks, NET's Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Product Management. "Interoperability with Polycom's KIRK DECT, SpectraLink 8020/8030, and SoundPoint IP phones provides additional options to systems integrators offering solutions to businesses seeking the benefits of IP-based network telephony."
