Tibco Spotfire to Present at GARP's 12th Annual Risk Management Convention

SOMERVILLE, MA--(Marketwire - March 1, 2011) - TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ: [ TIBX ]) today announced that Venkat Mullur, senior director of industry solutions, TIBCO Spotfire®, will be presenting at the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) [ 12^thAnnual Risk Management Convention ] on March 8 - 9, 2011. In a breakfast session titled "Post Financial Crisis: Evolving Regulatory Guidance," Mullur will discuss the critical need for a new analytics paradigm that can help financial organizations assess risks, analyze adverse scenarios, and come up with relevant risk measures in today's post-crisis regulatory environment. TIBCO Spotfire will also be exhibiting its [ predictive analytics solutions for financial services ] at the conference, at booth #2.

What:
In his presentation, Mullur will summarize the global regulatory response to the financial crisis of 2008 and 2009. While many of the new regulations stem from a desire to ensure long-term solvency of financial institutions, the guidance tacitly assumes an immutable risk-type taxonomy and an orderly marketplace with sufficient liquidity. Mullur will argue for a new paradigm for regulations, one that puts the onus back on the financial institutions to assess their risks, analyze adverse scenarios, and come up with relevant risk measures, instead of attempting to impose ready-made formulae and ratios that may not be relevant to individual institutions.
