Progress Software Launches Model Browser for TM Forum's SID IX
BEDFORD, MA--(Marketwire - May 18, 2010) - [ Progress Software Corporation ] (
The TM Forum's Information Model, the SID, is a common information/data model for Operational and Business Support Systems (OSS/BSS). The TM Forum SID model provides a common reference for enterprise information that service providers, software providers and integrators use to define management information. This shared model enables enterprises to create a bridge between business and IT, simplifying the integration of IT systems.
The DataXtend SID Model Browser is a lightweight version of the Progress DataXtend Semantic Integrator product that contains the TM Forum SID model pre-loaded. With the DataXtend SID Model Browser, users can effectively search the SID for free. It enables users to save time, develop a better understanding of relationships between classes in the SID, and identify differences between TM Forum SID Phases VII, VIII and IX. As a result, organizations are able to speed their adoption of this important industry standard.
"TM Forum SID is the preeminent data model in the communications industry, providing a common vocabulary for OSS/BSS to bridge business and IT users," said John Dalton, director, product management at Progress Software. "At Progress Software we understand that business and IT users must be on the same page to achieve operational responsiveness, so we've developed a set of tools such as the DataXtend SID Model Browser for the TM Forum SID to make it as easy as possible for our customers to do just that."
The DataXtend SID Model Browser accelerates learning by turning the model itself into dynamic documentation. The user can visualize the model and dynamically navigate through it, search for components of the model, understand what the components mean and how they relate to other parts of the model, and compare versions of the model to see what has changed. Without the DataXtend SID Model Browser, users would need to download hundreds of pages of documentation to generate the same level of understanding that is delivered automatically and intuitively. Unlike the paper documentation, the DataXtend SID Model Browser is dynamic which allows users to more easily visualize, search and understand the SID model.
The new DataXtend SID Model Browser will provide support for TM Forum SID IX, which is under member evaluation and will be released shortly.
