Taiwan says it will encourage firms to build more robotics, drones locally

Taiwan is introducing a new initiative called "Chips Team Taiwan" that will encourage Taiwanese companies to build more satellites, drones and robotics locally, its technology and science minister said on Tuesday.
Taiwan's government has announced plans to incentivize local companies to increase domestic production of robotics and drones, aiming to reduce reliance on foreign technology and enhance national security. This initiative, revealed on December 17, 2024, includes subsidies and tax incentives to encourage the development and manufacturing of these technologies within Taiwan. The move is part of a broader strategy to bolster the island's technological self-sufficiency amid rising geopolitical tensions, particularly with China.
