  • CarbonQuest, based in Spokane, is seeking ways to cut down on greenhouse gasses while energy demands keep growing.

A Washington-based company, CarbonCure, has developed a technology that captures carbon dioxide from industrial sources and injects it into concrete during the mixing process. This innovative approach not only helps in reducing the carbon footprint of cement production, which is traditionally a significant source of CO2 emissions, but also enhances the strength and durability of the concrete. The process involves capturing CO2, which would otherwise be released into the atmosphere, and mineralizing it within the concrete, effectively locking it away permanently. This technology has been implemented in over 700 concrete plants across North America, with plans for further expansion. The initiative supports global efforts to combat climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions while simultaneously improving construction materials.
