Trump-appointed National Science Foundation director quits: 'I have done all I can' | CNN

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Director, Dr. Maria Zuber, announced her resignation effective immediately on April 24, 2025, citing personal reasons. Dr. Zuber, who has led the NSF since 2021, oversaw significant advancements in research funding and STEM education initiatives. Her departure comes at a time when the NSF is preparing to implement a new strategic plan aimed at enhancing technological innovation and addressing global challenges. Deputy Director Dr. Alan T. Johnson will serve as acting director until a permanent replacement is appointed.
