Indian Scientists Develop Eco-Friendly Cholesterol Detection Device

Indian scientists from the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST) in Mohali have developed an eco-friendly cholesterol detection device that utilizes a paper-based sensor integrated with a smartphone. This innovative device, which can detect cholesterol levels in human serum within 30 seconds, uses a colorimetric approach where the sensor changes color based on the cholesterol concentration, and the smartphone app analyzes the color change to provide results. The device is not only cost-effective and portable but also environmentally friendly as it avoids the use of harmful chemicals typically found in traditional cholesterol tests. This breakthrough has the potential to make cholesterol testing more accessible, especially in resource-limited settings, and could significantly impact the management of cardiovascular health.
