Aramco's lithium project promising but not yet commercial, minister says
- Saudi Arabian state oil giant Aramco's project to extract lithium is "promising, but not yet commercially viable", the kingdom's mining minister told Reuters on Wednesday.
Saudi Aramco's exploration into lithium extraction from oil field brine has shown promising results, but it is not yet at a commercial stage, according to Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman. Speaking at the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh, he highlighted that while the project has potential, it is still in the experimental phase. Additionally, he mentioned that Saudi Arabia is looking into other minerals like rare earths, aiming to diversify its economy beyond oil.
