IN a bid to support the government's push to encourage more girls to study science, the Apps and Girls organisation has launched a training programme aimed at empowering female secondary school students in science and technology.

The article from IPP Media discusses a training program in Tanzania aimed at empowering girls with skills in robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). Held at the University of Dar es Salaam, the program, which ran for two weeks, was designed to bridge the gender gap in STEM fields by providing hands-on experience in building robots and understanding AI technologies. Over 50 girls from various schools participated, learning not only technical skills but also problem-solving, teamwork, and innovation. The initiative was supported by the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) and other partners, aiming to inspire more girls to pursue careers in technology. The program concluded with a showcase where participants demonstrated their robots, highlighting their newfound capabilities and the potential for future contributions to Tanzania's tech landscape.
