U.S. Navy Selects Harris Corporationas Falcon III Handheld Tactical Radios Certified for Suite B Encryption

MELBOURNE, Fla. & ROCHESTER, N.Y.--([ ])--Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has received a $7 million order to supply the U.S. Navy with Falcon III[ RF-310M-HH ] multiband handheld software-defined radios compatible with Suite B encryption. The order was received by Harris in the third quarter of fiscal year 2012.

The Navy is acquiring the RF-310M as part of the tactical radio modernization effort within Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC). The NECC supports naval expeditionary forces such as explosive ordinance disposal and port security forces.

The RF-310M is the first and only tactical radio to be certified by the National Security Agency as compatible with Type-1, Suite B encryption. The Suite B algorithm utilizes the commercial Advanced Encryption Standard, allowing it to be classified as a non-cryptographically controlled item. The RF-310M delivers U.S. SECRET and below interoperability with tactical radios such as the Falcon III[ AN/PRC-152(C) ] handheld and [ AN/PRC-117G ] manpack radios.
