100 Million Subscriber Performance Test of Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management Running With Oracle Exadata Dat
REDWOOD SHORES, CA--(Marketwire - April 19, 2011) - Oracle (
News Facts
- Oracle today released the results of a performance test demonstrating that Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management (BRM) 7.4 running with [ Oracle Exadata Database Machine X2-8 ] can deliver unprecedented performance and scalability for communications service providers aiming to consolidate multiple billing environments, process large transaction volumes and render bills faster, whether online or in printed form.
- In this performance test, Oracle achieved the best ever throughput performance for Oracle Communications BRM. With a single rack Oracle Exadata Database Machine, Oracle Communications BRM was able to rate, discount and update balances for more than 50,000 Call Detail Records (CDRs) per second.(1) At this rate, a communications service provider using this configuration could process 2 billion CDRs in less than 12 hours.
- Oracle Communications BRM achieved processing speeds of more than 2,500 bills per second(2) suggesting a service provider could complete the billing process for 100 million subscribers in less than 11 hours. This result is 21 percent faster than previous Oracle performance test results for Oracle Communications BRM running on IBM Power System 570 servers.(3)
- Oracle Communications BRM achieved throughput of more than 4,600 detailed invoices per second.(4) At this rate, a service provider could complete the invoicing process for 100 million subscribers in less than six hours. This result is more than two times faster than previous Oracle performance test results for Oracle Communications BRM running on IBM Power System 570 servers.(5)
- Oracle Communications BRM with Exadata can greatly simplify production deployments at a fraction of the cost of traditional technology. With the combined Database server and Storage server within an Exadata, the cost associated with a separate SAN storage of 10TB capacity -- in this particular performance test -- has been eliminated.
- Designed for extreme high performance transactional abilities, the Oracle Exadata Database Machine has achieved support of up to 50 million subscribers per Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) node(6), compared to IBM Power System 570 servers, which demonstrated support of up to 8.5 million subscribers per Oracle RAC node in performance test results.(7) Service providers using the Oracle Exadata Database Machine can easily accommodate rapid subscriber growth with minimal hardware upgrades.
