SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - June 3, 2010) - Websense, Inc. (NASDAQ: [ WBSN ]), a global leader in unified [ Web ], [ data ] and [ email ] security solutions, today announced that the Association of Support Professionals (ASP) has awarded Websense with a 2010 "Best Web Support" award in its 13th annual "Ten Best Web Support Sites" competition, a prestigious award that showcases excellence in online service and support.

This award comes on the heels of the recently announced, [ TRITON™ solution Customer First Initiative ], a three-pronged program that includes: enhanced support, training and tools and education to help customers achieve the best security at the lowest total cost of ownership using the [ Websense TRITON solution ].

"Websense commitment to their world class support program underscores the value they are delivering to customers through Websense TRITON solution that provides the world's best security at the lowest cost of ownership," said Websense Partner Nilson da Silva, director of Professional Services at Business Security Solutions, LLC (BSSI). "Websense allows me to track Websense ticket history and cases, enhancing the customer experience with BSSI. New enhancements to Websense eSupport deliver increased control over case management and easy access to tools like Knowledgebase, support forums and the MyWebsense portal, making it more efficient for customers to deploy and manage their Websense solution."

The 2010 winners include CheckPoint Software Technologies, Cisco Systems, IBM, Juniper Networks, Microsoft (Xbox), and Novell in the Open Division and Blackbaud, Deltek, Jive Software, and Websense in the Small Company Division.

The ASP award winners were selected by a panel of judges with expertise in Web support design and implementation. They used a scoring system based on 25 separate performance criteria. The evaluation process covered areas including: Overall usability, design, and navigation; Knowledgebase and search implementation; Interactive features; Customer experience; and Major site development challenges. The 10 winning sites will be profiled in a book called "The Ten Best Web Support Sites of 2010," to be published by the ASP in July.

"Websense global support website displays what we were looking for in a winning site: great design and navigation, a thorough knowledgebase and key interactive features that customers need to maximize their investment in solutions," says ASP Executive Director Jeffrey Tarter. "We get many repeat winners, but this year Websense was one of four brand-new awards participants. This shows that newcomers like Websense have a real chance to overtake well-established market leaders in the world of Web support.

The award comes after a recent investment in technology and support by Websense and a revamp of eSupport with three primary goals:

  1. Build an online support community and forum for customers and partners to share questions, provide feedback and suggestions in discussion groups with other experienced Websense customers.

  2. Empower customers and partners to easily manage their cases online through Service Request portal.

  3. Facilitate ease of managing products, accounts, events, and updates through the MyWebsense portal.

Through eSupport and additional innovative business support technology initiatives, Websense has made substantial progress to enhance support, training and tools and education to help customers achieve the best security at the lowest total cost of ownership.

"The "Best Web Support" award by the prestigious ASP organization validates the investment we're making in support at Websense -- from our now award-winning website to new Knowledgebase integration, to new training, tools and education -- we're doing everything we can to enable customer and partner success," said Pankaj Bhardwaj, vice president of Technical Support Services at Websense. "Our Websense TRITON solution offers the best security from modern threats such as advanced persistent threats at the absolute lowest cost of ownership. Support is such a critical component of maintaining an effective solution as well as in ensuring a more reliable and lower cost of continuing to run and own that solution. Our support program is designed to help our partners have increased visibility into their cases and help customers achieve the maximum return on their investment in Websense solutions."
