SUNNYVALE, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Applied Signal Technology, Inc. (AST) (NASDAQ:APSG), a market leader in advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions, recently hosted its Fourteenth Annual Spring Technology Symposium at its Annapolis Junction, Maryland facility. The two-day event attracted more than 200 participants representing numerous U.S. government agencies and defense industry professionals.

The 2010 Spring Symposium featured a series of technical seminars and demonstrations that focused on the Companya™s latest innovations in broadband communications, tactical signals intelligence (SIGINT), and cyber intelligence.

Dr. John Treichler, a national expert in digital and adaptive signal processing and ASTa™s Chief Technology Officer, delivered the symposiuma™s keynote speech on Looking at Emerging Technology Challenges Over the Next Five Years.This presentation discussed emerging technology challenges and divided them into two major categories: changes in computing and telecommunication networks and the resultant impacts on our nationa™s intelligence priorities.Other technical seminars included presentations on 4th Generation Wireless Cellular Protocols, Carrier Ethernet Services, Standards and Transport Networks, Multi-Planar Telecommunications Network Characterization, Near Vertical Direction Finding (NVDF) Sensors, and Elastic Scalability for Analytic Computing.

Additionally, the Company conducted several live demonstrations of its latest products, technologies, and integrated systems. Using Computer Network Operations to Influence Behavior, a hybrid seminar/demonstration that highlighted ASTa™s offensive and defensive cyber technologies, was one of the most talked about demonstrations of the week. It provided insight into how information operations can be used to influence perceptions and actions through the use of advanced cyber technologies and an integrated system approach.
