SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - August 10, 2009) - Cubic Defense Applications, Inc., the defense systems business of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: [ CUB ]), will showcase a range of Common Data Link (CDL) systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations during the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) conference August 10-13 in Washington, D.C. Tested and ready for integration into air, land and sea platforms, Cubic's off-the-shelf, compact, non-proprietary data links are fully interoperable with the CDL waveforms mandated for UAV operations.

Products that will be highlighted in Cubic's Booth 1217 at the show include:

FIRE SCOUT TCDL -- Cubic's CDL for the U.S. Navy's MQ-8B Fire Scout provided excellent streaming video and range performance during a recent sea trial involving the frigate USS McInerney.

MINIATURE CDL -- This compact, affordable miniature Common Data Link product is suitable for smaller unmanned vehicles and lightweight portable ground stations. Mini CDL has been successfully integrated and flight-tested on a wide range of UAVs, including Killer Bee, Aerosonde, Outlaw and Skylark II aircraft. Its spectrally efficient waveform enables more than twice as many users in a geographic area to operate without interference than a conventional CDL.

UK WATCHKEEPER -- Cubic's high-speed TCDL serves as the wireless connection for transferring data and images from multiple aircraft to ground stations from the United Kingdom's WATCHKEEPER Hermes 450 unmanned aerial vehicle. WATCHKEEPER undergoes ground and flight trials and system-level qualification testing in the U.K. this fall.

Cubic Defense Applications, Inc. is part of Cubic Corporation's defense segment. Cubic is a world leader in realistic combat training systems, mission support services and defense electronics. The corporation's other major segment, Cubic Transportation Systems, designs and manufactures automatic fare collection systems for public mass transit authorities.
