PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - June 15, 2009) - Polycom, Inc. (NASDAQ: [ PLCM ]), the global leader in telepresence, video and voice communication solutions, today announced that Robert C. Hagerty, the company's president, chairman, and CEO, has been named the 2009 Northern California Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® in the Technology category. Celebrating its 23rd anniversary, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® awards program recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses.

Hagerty, who was selected by an independent panel of judges, accepted his award at gala event at the San Jose Fairmont this past Saturday. As the regional award winner, Hagerty is now eligible to win the national award later this year, which will be announced Nov. 14 at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif. According to Ernst & Young, the awards are the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, the nation's most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.

Hagerty joined Polycom in 1997 as president, chief operating officer and board member. He was named CEO a year later and became chairman in 2000. Hagerty came to Polycom to build on the vision of delivering a total conferencing and collaboration solution to the customer. His continuing focus on the needs of customers has led to the creation of a customer-facing, direct touch sales force and a world class global service and distribution channel.

Hagerty was named CEO of the Year in 2005 by industry analyst group Frost & Sullivan. Prior to joining Polycom, he served as president and CEO of Stylus Assets, Ltd. and held key senior leadership positions with Logitech, Inc., Connor Peripherals, Signal Corporation, and Digital Equipment Corporation. He also serves on the board of Palm, Inc.
