Powerwave Opens New Facility in Hyderabad, India

SANTA ANA, Calif. & HYDERABAD, India--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global leader in end-to-end wireless coverage and capacity solutions, today announced the opening of its newest facility in India, recognized as the world's second largest wireless market and one of the fastest growing telecom markets in the world.

The 40,000-square-foot facility, located in Hyderabad's most prestigious technology enclave of HITEC City, was dedicated today in a ceremony attended by the Honorable Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Approximately 300 people will be based out of the office, which will serve regional OEMs and operators through sales and marketing, engineering, and technical and customer support. The facility will house state-of-the-art hardware, software and system integration laboratories to assist engineering personnel with their focus on design and testing of antennas, repeaters, and rural coverage solutions for India and emerging markets.

The opening of the new office will further strengthen Powerwave's position in assisting direct operators and OEMS to further penetrate the Indian market. With a population of approximately 1.2 billion, and mobile penetration currently at only 30%, the Indian market presents a large attractive opportunity to telecom operators. India is already witnessing a significant increase in mobile penetration with a net addition of approximately 8 million subscribers per month throughout 2008.
