NetApp to Lead Industry Discussions in March on Achieving Operational Efficiency with Fibre Channel over Ethernet

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--In March, NetApp (NASDAQ:NTAP) will present at FOSE 2009, an exposition for technical solutions for the business of government. NetApp will also present a Webinar on Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) hosted by the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) and supported by SNIA Europe, a strategic partner of the FCIA.

Mike McNamara, product marketing manager at NetApp and marketing chair of the FCIA, will copresent on "FCoE—Where It Fits, Why It Will Succeed, and How It Benefits You." This presentation will discuss how FCoE, combined with enhancements to Ethernet, allows customers to consolidate server I/O and simplify network infrastructure, saving both capital and operational expenses. The presentation will be held Tuesday, March 10, 10:20–11:00 a.m. Eastern Time, in the Data Center Theater. NetApp will be located in booth 1524. FOSE 2009 will be held March 10–12, 2009, in Washington, D.C.

FCIA Webinar

Mike McNamara will also copresent a Webinar on FCoE on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time. This Webinar will focus on the current state of FCoE technology and the latest developments. McNamara will also discuss what is in store for the standard and the fundamentals of how the technology works and its benefits to the end user. NetApp Industry Appointments in February

In February, Raj Lalsangi, senior software engineer at NetApp, was elected cochair of the SNIA IP Storage technical working group. The IP Storage technical working group is the primary SNIA technical focal point for IP storage technical issues, coordinating with the IP Storage Forum. Its current focus is the management of IP storage technologies.

Also in February, Charles Lavacchia, director of SAN Sales Enablement, was elected to the Ethernet Alliance 2009 Board of Directors, as that group's secretary. The Ethernet Alliance serves the Ethernet industry as a whole to assist with the ongoing incubation, development, launch, and sustained support of various Ethernet technologies.
